HIGHLANDS Pacific has announced its new exploration program at Nong River in Papua New Guinea nearby the Ok Tedi cooper-gold mine.

In the past, the Nong River exploration licence has been explored by a number of majoring mining companies including BHP Billiton.

According to the Brisbane-based company which focuses highly on its PNG market, it will be solely funding the exploration.

Highlands Pacific says the exploration will initially cost $3.2millon and will consist of 860km of airborne electromagnetic survey over both exploration licences and 2,400m of diamond drilling.

Highlands Pacific believes the use of geophysical surveys with previous work on the ground will assist in pinpointing areas for drilling.
