Genesis drilling analysis software wins technical innovation award

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has announced its Genesis information management software for the drilling industry has been awarded the 'Best Technical Innovation Award' at the 2009 Offshore Asia Conference in Thailand.

Genesis software is a planning tool for improving drilling and new wells completion, developed by CSIRO Petroleum Resources.

The software allows easy and comprehensive analysis of drilling and completions data.

According to CSIRO Petroleum Resource, the software caters for the oil and gas industry’s demand for sophisticated information and knowledge management systems which capture and retain past experiences to increase efficiency and reduce costs of new operations.

Genesis Petroleum Technologies said Genesis is currently the only tool on the market that allows a breakdown of all operations performed, and then uses this information to accurately predict future operations under similar conditions.

Genesis produces results and project plans through a pre-defined set of analysis and planning facilities using data from different sources and an intuitive interface.
